New from September 2026: Study “STAGE NARRATION” at the Danube University Krems in cooperation with Wortwiege
In 2026, Wortwiege is taking a new step in combining art and science. Together with the Danube University for Continuing Education in Krems, we have developed a part-time course and degree program: “STAGE NARRATION – Storytelling for the stages of our time “
The course makes the narrative devices of theatre usable for social issues. We encounter stories and narratives everywhere – in politics, entertainment, advertising and every form of communication. In theatre, we experience how different points of view come together, conflicts become visible and new perspectives emerge.
The modules include theory, theatre and narrative practice as well as bridges to related fields such as exhibition development, games research or journalism. The special feature of the course is its proximity to the theater: for the scenic-practical module, students experiment with the resources and spaces of the Wortwiege Festival in Wiener Neustadt.
It is aimed at theatre professionals who want to expand and deepen their practice as well as people who want to use the mindset and tools of theatre for their work in writing, teaching, science, presentations or even politics and marketing.
The part-time course lasts four semesters (or five in the Master’s program). The courses usually take place at weekends, on average once a month.
For those with limited financial means, there are two scholarships that make it possible to study at half price.
The program is artistically directed by our director Jérôme Junod and is closely linked to the Wortwiege Festival (and the city of Wiener Neustadt).
The first class will begin in September 2026.

Born in Lausanne in 1979, a trained pianist and philosopher, Jérôme Junod has been working as a director, playwright, translator, dramaturge and lecturer in German and French for twenty years. Since 2026, he has been the director and scientific coordinator of Wortwiege. From 2021 to 2025, he was play director and head dramaturge at the Schauspielhaus Salzburg, before and during which he taught for years at the Max Reinhardt Seminar, the Mozarteum Salzburg and the Manufacture – Haute École de Théâtre de Suisse Romande, among others, and directed in numerous theatres in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. In June 2026, his new play “Das Ministerium der Wahrheit” will premiere at the Summer Games in Melk, where “Nero – Er wollte doch nur spielen” was already performed in 2022.
